What Lasik Eye Surgery Can Do for You

by Lasik Staff on October 6, 2010

Among folks who have always worn glasses, there is something of a progression. You start out with glasses as a kid, and those are fine for a long time. When you get to high school or maybe college, you start to think about getting contact lenses. You want the whole world to be able to see your beautiful face. Eventually, once you’re older and have at least a little bit of disposable income at hand, you’re likely to consider a more long-term solution in order to correct your poor vision, such as Lasik eye surgery.

To be sure, there are a number of benefits of Lasik eye surgery when compared to glasses or contacts. Here are just a few of those:

  • You don’t have to worry about losing your glasses. Let’s face it, most of us have probably lost a pair of glasses at some point in our lives. In some instances, this happens at a terribly inopportune time. If you lose them while you’re at the grocery store, for example, how are you going to see to drive home? Lasik makes it so you don’t ever need to worry about it.
  • You don’t have to worry about breaking them, either. The same applies for breakage. If your glasses get stepped on in the middle of a party, you’re screwed. Not so with Lasik eye surgery.
  • You can see your lover’s face in the morning. We’ll assume that this is a good thing.
  • You can wear traditional sunglasses. Yes, we know you can do that with contact lenses, as well. It’s still an advantage over glasses.
  • There is less maintenance. Glasses and contact lenses require a good bit of maintenance. You need to keep the glass in your glasses clean. You need to disinfect your contact lenses. With Lasik eye surgery, that’s all a thing of the past.
  • The cost is comparable to the other options. Depending on whether you have insurance and whether it will pay for a portion of the Lasik eye surgery, the fact of the matter is that it will, eventually, pay for itself when compared with the cost of glasses or contact lenses.
